Son Xoriguer Holidays

If you're looking for a quieter alternative to the hustle and bustle of other Spanish resorts, this place could well float your holiday boat.

This is a fairly new resort that offers a quieter alternative to the more developed holiday centre of nearby Cala'n Porter with its busy restaurants, bars and nightclubs.

Son Xoriguer does feature an excellent beach in its own right - good enough to have been awarded Blue Flag status. But the type of holidaymakers attracted to this small stretch of fine white sand are not your typical beach-baskers. Here you're far more likely to encounter the sun-bronzed muscular bodies of the young, the fit and the beautiful, as this resort has some of the finest selections of water-sports on the entire island.

There are few thrills to rival being suddenly hoisted into the blue sky on the end of a parachute towed by a speedboat. Serene enough once you're up there, but more fun on the way down if the boatman decides to dip you into the drink. But that's not the only way to throw yourself into the Mediterranean. At Son Xoriguer there's the raucous fun of water skiing, or you can try your hand at mastering windsurfing. Or, if you find yourself treading water more often than you're standing on the board, you may prefer traditional sailing. Under the waves is also a beautiful place to be, whether you're merely snorkelling about or going for a full scuba diving session.

Slightly less energetic, and much drier exercise can be had by taking your camera for a walk along the coastal paths outside Son Xoriguer, or into the surrounding countryside that is both relatively unspoiled and easily reached at a gentle pace.

If you can't unwind on holidays in Son Xoriguer, then you might be hard pushed to do so anywhere else. Because this small resort near Cala'n Bosch positively oozes relaxation, helping you along the stairway to heaven with generous dollops of watersports and warm summer rays.

The centre of everything here is a small, sheltered beach. You might need to arrive early for the best spot, but it's a joy at anytime. Cushiony sands and sunbeds are perfect for tan fans. Sparkling, calm seas are perfect for splashing kids. And a flurry of beach bars and watersports like sailboats, water-skiing and parasailing are great for those who can't sit still for long.

In terms of accommodation and holidays, Son Xoriguer oblige in a big way. If you're thinking luxury, consider a cosseted A La Carte break at the sophisticated La Quinta Resort Hotel And Spa, just a short stroll from the beach. And don't forget, we offer lots of late deals and enticingly cheap package holidays to Son Xoriguer on top.

Whichever you choose, don't imagine travel to Son Xoriguer means just the beach. The resort has a cluster of shops, bars and eateries, and next-door Cala'n Bosch is a constant attraction. Here, you'll find animated bars, seafood restaurants and colourful shops radiating out from a chic marina. And when you fancy sampling old Menorca, catch a bus to Ciudadella, the island's beautiful and bewitching past capital.
